Björkliden Arctic Mountain Marathon, BAMM, is a two-day mountain orienteering where two-person teams spend the night on the mountain.
The teams carry all the equipment required for two tough days and a night on the mountain. The exception is BAMM 30 for which the organizer will transport tent and sleeping bag to the night camp. Participants in BAMM 30 will therefore have a little lighter rucksack.
124 miles north of the Arctic circle Björkliden is beautifully situated between mighty mountains in Europe's last wilderness. In these wild and beautiful surroundings the competitors will experience two exiting days.
BAMM has something for all with interesting challenges and real natural experiences! BAMM 30 is a good distance to start with, BAMM 50 is for those who want a greater challenge where both good physique and orienteering skills are required and BAMM 70 is probably the toughest mountain marathon in Sweden.
All disciplines (downhill, super G, super combined, downhill and giant slalom) will be covered during a week in April when Sweden's alpine elite gather in Björkliden for the Alpine SM 2010. See the program.
