Låktatjåkko Mountain Station was born from the power of the ore railroad expansion. It was the rallers, the hardy pioneers, who first tamed these lands. The station was built in 1939 as a safe outpost in the barren landscape - a construction that required a courage that is still evident in the timber walls.

An icon above the clouds. Today, ”Låkta” is Sweden's highest mountain station and a place of pilgrimage for skiers. The journey here by tracked carriage or up on touring skis erases civilization and replaces it with Arctic silence.
