Up here, 250 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, the days are long and the landscape is wild and unspoiled. This year marks the 100th anniversary of Björkliden as a destination for outdoor tourism, and we want to work with you to preserve this place for future generations to experience.

When the night never comes and the sun never sets and the sky burns at night. Experience the freedom of walking on golden peaks in the middle of the night and feel the energy of a landscape that never sleeps.

An explosion of red, orange and gold. The air is high and clear, the ground smells of moss and berries, and the hiking is at its most intense and beautiful setting.

Northern lights - when the night sky dances

From the first dark night of fall to the arrival of spring, we have a front row seat to the most beautiful light show in the universe. Seeing the Northern Lights, or as some call it, the Aurora Borealis, blazing in green and purple is a life-changing experience.

As the sun rests below the horizon, the mountain is enveloped in a mysterious, blue- and pink-split twilight. It is a time of lighted candles, silence and an almost unreal stillness where the snow sparkles under the stars.

The time that we mountain dwellers love the most. The days are long, the sun is warm on your face and you can enjoy skiing in your shirt sleeves in the morning and a coffee in a snow sofa in the afternoon.

After a day out in the mountains, a simple grilled sausage tastes magnificent in one of our open huts. If you don't feel like arranging it yourself our restaurant Lapporten offers everything from simple classics to full three-course dinners. Here you can ease in after the adventure of the day, with flavors that enhance the experience and views that linger.

Whatever you're in the mood for, one thing's for sure - gastronomy and community meet here in an environment where every meal becomes a natural extension of the day's experiences.

Community and friendly competitions—indoors and outdoors

The evening doesn’t have to end when the day’s adventures wrap up. Outdoors, the mini-golf course, the bocce court, and the disc golf course are waiting to crown a winner. For those who want to escape the elements, there are board games in the lobby and the chance to challenge friends to a round of classic pub games at Pub Rallaren.

BAMM - a two-day competition in the mountains

The competition is organized in Riksgränsen, where teams of two navigate through pristine Arctic wilderness. With map and compass, you'll make your way across mountains, valleys and glacial landscapes and take control points - where strategy, perseverance and teamwork is key. It's more than a race - it's a raw and unforgettable experience!

Travel to Björkliden

By train

Hop on the train in the evening in Stockholm or Gothenburg and wake up to a stunning mountain landscape the next day. You’ll arrive in Björkliden around lunchtime. SJ operates this route, and the trip between Stockholm and Björkliden takes about 17 hours. You can also take the Arctic Train from Narvik—Norway’s northernmost train route—through breathtaking Arctic landscapes with panoramic views of mountains and fjords. The train station in Riksgränsen is located right in the heart of the village, just about 150 meters from Meteorologen.

Via car

Take the E4 north, turn left in Töre, and then continue on the E10 toward Kiruna and Narvik. You'll find us just past Abisko.

By air

There are daily flights from Stockholm and Copenhagen to Kiruna Airport, followed by a 90-minute transfer. Alternatively, you can fly to Evenes Airport and drive for 75 minutes. The drive to Björkliden via the E10 is equally scenic from both directions.
