Encounter the most powerful transformation of the wilderness during pre-summer in Björkliden - midnight sun, the beginning of plant blooming and lots of wildlife

There is a time in the mountains that few have experienced, but which is perhaps the most magical of all. Between May and June, under the first eternal rays of the midnight sun, Björkliden awakens from its winter slumber. This is when nature's greatest change takes place - the Great Transformation.

When the ice cracks and the snow melts, The ground beneath your feet is full of invisible Arctic life. The limestone-rich bedrock and meltwater release essential minerals, while cold-loving microorganisms, tardigrades and snow algae work hard to bring nature to life. To walk here right now is to walk in the middle of a biological explosion - a raw, fragrant and vital process where every rippling stream carries nature's own superfood.

Our favorite pre-summer hikes

Yes, it's wet, muddy and wonderfully unpolished, but the magnificent midnight sun is also present which is a spectacle in itself! It is the summer mountain in its most authentic form.
