A journey through an Arctic fairytale landscape
Boarding the tracked vehicle towards the Låktatjåkko mountain station is the start of an adventure where the journey itself is the destination. As the machine chugs effortlessly through terrain few other vehicles can reach, you sit warm and comfortable and watch the landscape open up. With each meter of altitude, the views become more powerful and civilization feels more distant.
Outside the window, Torneträsk spreads out in the valley while dramatic mountain massifs surround you in an endless white panorama. It is a natural experience that shifts from sparkling sun to mysterious Arctic fog where sky and earth merge. When the station finally appears as a safe outpost in the great white, you have already experienced the mountain world in a way that few others get the chance to.
