BAMM supported by OMM 30, 50 & 70km costs 2500 SEK/team incl. stick.
What happens if we have to cancel the competition?
In the unlikely event that we have to cancel this year's competition, we will offer the following options:
- We offer all participants to move their registration to the following year
- Voucher for accommodation in our facilities Björkliden & Riksgränsen
- The money back minus an administrative fee of 100 SEK.
Can anyone pass BAMM?
No, you can't. For BAMM 30, you should be able to walk 3 miles in the mountains over two days and in a total of 16 hours. BAMM 50 and 70 have higher requirements. Read more about it Here.
What is the scale of the map?
1:50000, i.e. 2 cm on the map is one km in reality.
What is an equidistance?
The equidistance is the difference in height between two contour lines on the map. On the BAMM map = 20 altitude meters
Does the mobile phone work during BAMM?
Yes and no. Coverage is poor in the competition area, some areas have no coverage at all. The basic rule is that the higher up and closer to E-10 and Björkliden/Riksgränsen you are, the better the coverage.
Can I use GPS to find my way?
No. This is an orienteering competition. GPS for tracking may only be carried in a backpack and used in case of emergency.
Does the tent need to have a floor?
Yes.
Is there drinking water along the track?
Yes, there is. There are normally large quantities of water. Try to use running water.
Could there be snow?
Yes, there is. The tracks may cross snowfields and glaciers, and there may be fresh snow.
Can I leave my luggage at the end of the road if it suits the route?
No. The pack must be with you all the way.
Is BAMM 30 allowed to send provisions in the pack for the night camp?
No, only sleeping bag and tent.
How much does your luggage usually weigh?
4-8 kg.
Can you bring a dog?
No.
Can you leave rubbish in the night camp?
No. Nothing may be left after the course. Everything must be taken to the finish line where it must be presented at the equipment control.
Are there toilets in the night camp?
Yes, there are. There are toilet tents with toilet paper.
What happens if you miss a check or stamp incorrectly?
You will be disqualified if you cannot prove that you were at the checkpoint. If the checkpoint does not work properly, you can stamp on the map.
Do you need money during the competition?
No, you can't. But feel free to bring 200 SEK in a plastic bag if you have to break the competition and go out to the road.
Which shoes are suitable?
It can be very slippery on rocks if it rains and also on glaciers and snow/ice fields so we recommend shoes with a strong tread or shoes with studs.
Is mosquito repellent needed?
Can be good in night camp depending on weather conditions.
