In 1933, Björn, Alvar, and Arvid Kjellström, together with Gunnar Tillander, invented the first liquid-filled compass, marking the beginning of our business. Not only was it the first compass with that technology, but it also set a global standard for how navigation equipment functions. That was when the Silva brand was born. A few years later, in 1935 to be exact, we expanded our business area with a new invention, the Zeiler headlamp. Today, we focus on three main areas for our products: sports, adventure, and professional use.
