Why?

The climate also affects our ski resort in Björkliden. While we still experience snow-secure winters, we’re seeing greater variations in snowfall amounts and timing between seasons. This winter brought heavy precipitation, and by the season’s end we had 22,000 m³ of snow in Teknikbacken. We’re now preserving that snow over the summer for the 2026 season. By storing the snow, we aim to secure our opening date and ensure quality, slopeside skiing—regardless of weather conditions.

First time

This is the first time we’re doing this at our resort, and we’re learning as we go to find the best and most effective methods. We’re bringing in expert support to guide us through the process and are soaking up all the knowledge we can—so that we can continue offering the best and most fun winter experiences for all of you who visit us. In addition to the large snow depot in Teknikbacken, which we’ll cover with insulating material, we’re also testing snow storage for the cross-country trail starting at the Snow Bar.
