Northern Lights
Did you know that the area around Björkliden is actually renowned as one of the premier destinations on Earth to witness the northern lights? Come to us and experience the aurora borealis.
We offer gastronomic experiences during our northern lights season in both Restaurant Lapporten and in Rakkaskåtan. Take the opportunity to book one of our aurora activities, such as snowshoeing under the night sky, a snowmobile tour, or learn how to capture the northern lights through photography.
Let yourself be enchanted by this natural phenomenon.
Winter
During the winter, our resort reaches its full potential when the ski lifts are in operation. There is skiing for both the enthusiastic beginner and the daring veteran. Children can either attend ski school, start their skiing career on the easier slopes, progress through the ski system with both forest and groomed slope skiing, or join Fjälle for some fun.
If alpine skiing is not your preference, there are also numerous winter trails to explore on back country skis. We also have groomed cross-country tracks.
You can also take the ski tour or the cat ski up to Låktatjåkko Mountain Station. There, you can stay overnight and enjoy dinner and breakfast.
Summer
In the summer time, the sun never sets. Instead, you can enjoy the midnight sun throughout the night. Perhaps take a round of golf or a midnight stroll under the midnight sun?
If you’re an active person, Björkliden has much to offer during the summer. Mountain biking, trail running, caving, or hiking – the possibilities are many. If you prefer to enjoy the tranquility, you can take the opportunity to visit one of our nearby waterfalls.
Låktatjåkko Mountain Station, located 9 km from Björkliden, is well worth a visit. Hike up and enjoy the mountain views, a sauna, and dinner.
We also recommend a hike up to Trollsjön. Take advantage of our package with transfer to the start of the trail. Welcome to the land of the midnight sun!
Autumn
Autumn is a fantastic season in Björkliden. The landscape transforms into explosive shades of orange, red, and yellow. The air is crisp, and a sense of calm settles over the mountains. Additionally, you may actually catch a glimpse of the northern lights already. During the autumn, there are fewer people up here, so you might get a feeling of having the mountain to yourself.
Take the opportunity to hike, cycle, or go aurora hunting during your autumn visit.
